Call for Papers: International Graduate Conference in Communication – May 7-8, 2026

Doctoral School in Communication Sciences, University of Bucharest, in collaboration with PhD schools in Communication Sciences from Babeș-Bolyai University Cluj-Napoca, National University of Political Studies and Public Administration, “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, and West University of Timișoara

The Doctoral School in Communication Sciences of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Studies, University of Bucharest, invites PhD students and early-stage researchers to participate in the 5thedition of the International Graduate Conference in Communication, an academic forum dedicated to doctoral research in communication and media studies. The conference addresses doctoral candidates from Romania and abroad and aims to bring together young scholars engaged in theoretical and empirical research across the field of communication sciences.

Conference topics & format

The conference welcomes papers addressing, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Media and journalism studies;
  • Public relations, strategic communication, and organizational communication;
  • Advertising, branding, and persuasive communication;
  • Information science and the challenges of digital transformation;
  • Digital communication and platform studies;
  • Communication ethics and accountability;
  • Political communication and public discourse;
  • Social media, influencers, and online communities;
  • Health communication and digital environments;
  • Artificial intelligence and communication technologies;
  • Media, culture, identities, and social representations.
Abstract submission

PhD students and early-stage researchers are invited to submit their abstracts (max. 300 words, excluding references) in English to the following link by February 15.

The abstract (max. 300 words, excluding references) should include the objectives, theoretical framework, methodology, relevance of the proposed contribution, list of references (max. 5 references).

  • March 10, 2026: notification of acceptance;
  • March 30, 2026: participation confirmation;
  • April 9, 2026: conference program release;
  • May 7-8, 2026: conference and workshops;
  • Paper submission (please select one):
    • June 30, 2026: submission of the final paper for publication in the conference in the journal.
    • September 30, 2026: submission of the final paper for publication in the conference volume.
